Trauma Surgery - Physician at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Austin Pflugerville - Baylor Scott & White Health summary:

The Trauma Surgery Medical Director at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Pflugerville will provide clinical leadership in trauma and emergency general surgery services and guide the hospital toward Level III Trauma Designation. The role involves overseeing patient care, mentoring team members, ensuring adherence to standards, and participating in trauma quality improvement programs. Candidates must have trauma and surgical critical care fellowship training, board certification, and surgical experience, including laparoscopic or robotic surgery.

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Pflugerville is seeking a Trauma Surgery Medical Director to join the Department of Surgery at our hospital in Pflugerville, TX. We are expanding our Trauma Surgery service and seeking a visionary physician leader to guide and advance the delivery of trauma care as we work toward achieving Level III Trauma Designation.

Position Information:

1. Responsibilities will include
   1. Clinical Leadership
      1. Provide leadership in the clinical management of trauma services
      2. Evaluate all trauma and emergency general surgery consults
      3. Round on patients in the STICU and Trauma Acute Care Surgery services
      4. Provide OR coverage for trauma, emergency general surgery, and elective general surgery
      5. Participate in Q3 Trauma/Acute Care Surgery call (with protected time)
      6. Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, ACS standards, and institutional protocols
      7. Collaborate in a 1:1 physician–APP model for both clinical care and call support
   2. Mission
      • Regional outreach and commitment to trauma and emergency surgical services
      • Involvement in both TQIP and NSQIP
      • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to trauma team members including acute care surgeons, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff

Qualifications:

1. MD/DO degree
2. Fellowship training in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care
3. Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Surgery (or Osteopathic Board Certification)
4. Licensed (or eligible) to practice medicine in Texas
5. Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (when qualified)
6. ATLS certification
7. Demonstrated experience managing trauma, emergency general surgery, and critical care patients
8. Experience with laparoscopic or robotic surgery required
