Summary:

The Shipping & Rigging Specialist is responsible for overseeing and performing the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of equipment and materials from the IPM facility to project sites. This position combines logistics coordination with hands-on rigging duties, ensuring that all equipment is properly disassembled, packaged, secured, and transported in alignment with IPM’s safety standards and project timelines. The role supports both the Material Management, Advanced Validation, and Field Installation teams, ensuring seamless equipment readiness and delivery.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) equipment and materials.  Perform these movements physically as well as document them within the ERP system to maintain real-time visibility, accuracy, and accountability of inventory status.
  • Oversee and participate in the disassembly and preparation of large industrial equipment for transport.
  • Design or select appropriate lifting gear (slings, chokers, spreader bars) based on equipment weight and configuration.
  • Ensure all loads are safely balanced, secured, and compliant.
  • Assist with and ensure proper wrapping, crating, and packaging of equipment to maintain safety and prevent damage during transport.
  • Coordinate and document the shipment of equipment, ensuring Bills of Lading, packing slips, and asset tracking records are complete and accurate.
  • Schedule and communicate with logistics providers to ensure on-time delivery to project sites.
  • Lead or assist with loading and unloading operations using forklifts, cranes, or hoists.
  • Maintain strong communication with Field and Project Management teams regarding equipment readiness and status.
  • Promote and uphold IPM’s safety culture, following all rigging and lifting safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, logistics, or equipment handling roles.
  • Experience with rigging, lifting equipment, or industrial disassembly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel).
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety practices and equipment handling standards.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  •  

 

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

 

Professional Certifications:

  • Rigging Certification required (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Forklift certification preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Steel toe shoes and safety glasses are required
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move 50 +pounds and operate material handling equipment safely
  • Bending, lifting, twisting, crawling for extended periods of time

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25%
