PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I – BAY AREA DISTRICT / MOUNT TAMALPAIS STATE PARK

This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. t he Park Maintenance Worker I will perform skilled and semi-skilled structural and facility maintenance and repair work throughout the district on a wide variety of park facilities, including buildings, systems, grounds, roads and trails; keeps tools and equipment in good condition; keeps records and prepares reports as required. The incumbent may lead and train a crew of maintenance employees. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the facility maintenance and housekeeping functions at Mount Tamalpais State Park, but maybe required to work in other areas in the Bay Area District. The incumbent’s work schedule will be Thursday to Monday from 7:00AM-3:30PM.
This position is currently eligible for a Recruitment and Retention pay differential for the Greater Bay Area. This pay differential is five percent (5%) of the base pay for each qualifying pay period and is in addition to the posted monthly salary.
This position requires a valid CA Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) , this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR . This position is designated as not telework eligible. Training and Development Assignments may be considered. State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements. This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
