Our esteemed client in Passaic County, New Jersey is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing Specialist with strong experience in Insurance Verification and Accounts Receivable (A/R). Responsibilities:

As a Medical Biller / Insurance Verification Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Accurately identify and document patient accounts based on insurance type (PPO, HMO, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation, etc.)
  • Conduct timely and precise insurance verifications for patients scheduled for treatment or services.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations when handling protected health information (PHI).
  • Input and update patient demographics, insurance coverage, and benefit information into the billing system.
  • Verify pre-authorization requirements and submit supporting documentation when required.
  • Record and communicate insurance benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and any patient self-pay responsibilities.
  • Review and track reports to ensure accuracy and timely completion of insurance verification tasks.
  • Contact patients directly when additional demographic or insurance details are needed to complete billing processes.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth billing workflows and proper claims submission.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in medical billing and insurance verification preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Solid understanding of In-Network vs. Out-of-Network billing practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience working with managed care organizations, Medicare/Medicaid plans, and Workers' Compensation is a plus.
