Job Accountabilities:

  • Safety & Quality minded with willingness for excellence required

  • Ensures all safety equipment, guards, and devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules
  • \n\t
  • Checks a set of cups on shift to make sure the problem is not being created by the plant
  • \n\t
  • Checks the coil for dents and holes during changeover before rotating mandrels into position to be threaded into cupper.
  • \n\t
  • Installs the coil being loaded on the off mandrel in an overlap position which should be facing in the opposite direction during the changeover
  • \n\t
  • Rotates the coil around, while the machine is in manual mode, by using the unwinder during the changeover.
  • \n\t
  • Inspects cups once per shift to visually detect defects such as excessive earlng, score marks, ID visibility, pinching, thining of cup at radius, lube and hairing.
  • \n\t
  • Shuts down machine when defective can is detected
  • \n\t
  • Identifies cups by recording date and shift on bottom of cuts, before sorting cups in sorter of station on process control board.
  • \n\t
  • Removes scraps from die of press before starting machine.
  • \n\t
  • Pulls 5 consecutive samples for an equipment set-up evaluation from bodymaker after tooling change has been verified.
  • \n\t
  • Adds oils to ironers as needed for proper operation.
  • \n\t
  • Adjust dome for depth, to meet customer specifications.
  • \n\t
  • Clears jams from bodymaker and trimmer
  • \n\t
  • Conducts daily or monthly lubrication on ironers for normal operation of equipment.
  • \n\t
  • Identifies trim quality problems.
  • \n\t
  • Checks three cans of trimmer every two hours for dimension
  • \n\t
  • Identifies the proper size rings to ensure customer specifications are met
  • \n\t
  • Sets timing for cup infeed, can blowoff and discharge pocket for bodymaker
  • \n\t
  • Operates the ironers and trimmers during daily production runs.
  • \n\t
  • Adjust trim heights to Crown’s specifications for finish.
  • \n\t
  • Checks cup elevator for damage or scrap cups after a die jam
  • \n

Performs other related duties as required

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • \n\t
  • 2-4 years manufacturing/production experience
  • \n\t
  • Good oral and written communications skills. Good record keeping skills. Good listening skills. Accurate measurement capability. Ability to understand and speak basic English.
  • \n\t
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.  The associate is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The associate may be required to sometimes sit, climb or balance.  The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repetitively.  Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes.  The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.  The noise level is usually loud.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
