Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Electric Motor Repair Technician that is familiar with repairing electrical and mechanical equipment for industry. This position is responsible for repairing AC & DC electric motors as well as a variety of water handling pumps and gear reducers, etc. The technician should be able to 1) disassemble and reassemble industrial electric motors, 2) identify mechanical problems as well as inspect and test the windings of an electric motor using high voltage test equipment such as a hi-pot tester and Surge testing equipment, 3) make necessary repairs. The technician will be required to run motors using single and three phase voltages of 115/230/460 volts standard with the possibility of voltage as high as 4,160 volts. With the wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment brought in for repair the candidate should be familiar with larger hand tools, hydraulic tools and presses rated at 100 ton as well as small tools and precision handling. The technician will be required to safely handle a torch for heating. At times a technician will be required to drive to a customer's location and troubleshoot, repair, remove or install mechanical/electrical equipment on site. He may be responsible to manage and coordinate co-workers on a job site. A valid driver's license with a good driving record and a Chauffer's license is required at hire. Because we are a Union Shop the hourly pay rate will be based on union classification or work experience if currently non-union, the current IBEW Journeyman Rate is $23.19/Hour +$11.74/Hour that funds the IBEW H&W and Pension.
