The Civil Rights Investigator plays a critical role in the university's efforts to promote living, learning, and working environments free from discrimination and harassment.
Reporting to the Director of Compliance and Conflict Resolution, the Civil Rights Investigator is responsible for responding to reports of discrimination under university nondiscrimination policies. The investigator carries out the role in a manner that complies with university procedures and applicable civil rights laws, including Title IX, Title VI, and others. The Civil Rights Investigator conducts thorough and impartial investigations and produces detailed and unbiased investigation reports. The Investigator develops and maintains close working partnerships with multiple university offices and divisions. The position assists in the coordination and provision of supportive measures for involved parties and refers reports to partners as appropriate. The position may assist in providing technical assistance to university leadership, training, and professional development, and leading outreach activities related to discrimination.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Demonstrated judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information
Demonstrated skills in the areas of conflict resolution, interviewing and conducting investigation
Demonstrated ability to write concise, logical analytical reports
The ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with partners
Preferred Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate degree or Master's degree in a related field
Experience in an office of discrimination and harassment prevention or civil rights compliance is highly preferred
Ability to read and interpret complex legal documents
Professional experience conducting investigations in a university setting
Professional experience conducting workplace investigations
Demonstrated experience in applying federal civil rights laws, including Title IX, Title VII, the ADA, etc., to facts
Title IX Investigator training certification
Overtime Status: Exempt: Not eligible for overtime

Salary Information: Commensurate with experience with a salary range of $77,000-$84,000 per year
