Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Policy Prairie View A&M University invites applicationsfor a nine-month, tenure-track Public Policy position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin Fall 2026. Tenure is negotiable based on the scholarly record of the candidate. Required Education and Experience: Ph.D. in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Affairs or a closely related field. At least 3 scholarly publications At least 2 years of teaching experience Experience applying for external research funding Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with substantive strength and competencies to teach a variety of courses across the curriculum, particularly in areas of policy analysis, policy implementation, impact assessment, and quantitative analysis 3+ years of teaching experience 4+ scholarly publications Success in securing external research funding Mentoring and assessment of student learning About the Position : This position will temporarily reside in the Department of Justice Studies until the new Department of Public Policy and Administration is created in either Fall 2026 or Fall 2027. The College has proposed an interdisciplinary Master of Public Policy program, with the plan to propose a Ph.D. program in Public Policy, Master of Public Administration, and considering a bachelor’s degree in public policy. The College is also proposing a public policy institute or lab, which will draw on the academic strengths across the university, being both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary. The successful candidate for this position will be a founding faculty member for the new department of Public Policy and Administration. About the Department : The Department of Justice Studies resides within the College of Juvenile Justice. It currently offers bachelor’s degrees in both criminal justice and juvenile justice, a master’s degree in juvenile justice, and a Ph.D. in juvenile justice. The Ph.D. in juvenile justice was the university’s first Ph.D. program. The department also offers two interdisciplinary minors: 1) cybersecurity and 2) emergency management and crisis informatics. The students are very active, as there is a criminal justice club and a chapter of the criminal justice honors society, Alpha Phi Sigma. The students regularly present at both regional and national conferences (e.g., Southern Criminal Justice Association, American Society of Criminology, and Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences). About the University : Founded in 1876, Prairie View A&M University is a public, comprehensive land grant institution of higher education.
