Assembly Technician - Electrical & Mechanical

New Orleans, LA

Contract Position

$24.67-$34.54/Hour

Support aircraft and avionics assembly by performing basic mechanical and electrical tasks including wiring, tooling, drilling, and harnessingideal for entry-level candidates with hands-on aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform machine setup, machining, wiring, and electrical verification tasks under guidance.
• Assemble, modify, repair, and install wire harnesses and avionics components using hand and power tools.
• Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for various engineering or quality tests.
• Use tools such as power drills, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, adhesives, and brackets for basic mechanical and electrical builds.
• Participate in up to 34 weeks of on-the-job training, tailored to incoming experience level.
• Work will be assigned to either electrical or mechanical tasks based on skill and staffing needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1+ year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, components, and tools.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, wires, machines, or adhesives.
• Technically inclined and eager to learn on the job.
• Eye exam required for electrical-focused roles.
• Must meet physical requirements:
  
  
  • Lift up to 15 lbs
  • May be required to wear a safety harness (max 350 lbs with gear)
  • May be subject to mask requirements (area dependent)
  
  
  
• Crane certification may be obtained post-start.
