The Student Research Assistant will support a grant-funded doctoral dissertation project examining U.S. educators' perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with a focus on creativity and critical thinking. This position is essential for ensuring data integrity, conducting manual coding of qualitative responses, and performing quality control tasks that cannot be automated or outsourced. The assistant's work will directly safeguard the rigor, validity, and scientific contribution of the study.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

• Review survey responses to identify inattentive, careless, or invalid responses.
• Conduct quality control checks to reconcile inconsistencies in survey data.
• Manually code and interpret open-ended qualitative responses using established coding guidelines.
• Assist with transcription and organization of qualitative data, as needed.
• Maintain secure and organized research files in compliance with IRB and data protection requirements.
• Assist with preparing data summaries for analysis and dissemination.
• Participate in regular check-ins with the Principal Investigator regarding progress and data integrity.

Requirements

Required:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in psychology, education, or a related field.
• Coursework or experience in research methods or data analysis.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work carefully with research data.
• Ability to handle sensitive data responsibly and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred:

• Experience with qualitative coding or mixed-methods research.
• Familiarity with online survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics).
• Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and/or written), particularly for interpreting and reviewing qualitative responses across languages.
• Interest in educational research, creativity, critical thinking, or AI in education.
